Eriksen to terminate Inter Milan contract.

According to Italian media reports, Christian Eriksen will terminate his contract with Inter in January due to the fact that he will be unable to play in Italy while wearing an ICD.

According to Calciomercato.com, doctors will make a decision next week regarding Eriksen’s availability to play in Italy.

However, the outcome appears to be self-evident, as Eriksen had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device implanted in June following his collapse on the pitch during Denmark’s match against Finland.

Eriksen returned to training with his former club Odense in Denmark this week, as he is not permitted to play or train in Italy while wearing such a device.

“We are delighted that Christian Eriksen is keeping in shape right with us,” the club’s sporting director Michael Hemmingsen told Bt.dk.

Inter will mutually terminate Eriksen’s contract at the start of 2022, the report states.

Eriksen’s €7 million per year contract with Inter expires in June 2024, and his salary is covered by FIFA insurance, which guarantees the club up to €7.5 million for a single year.
