Real Madrid set to launch Operation Mbappé.

Real Madrid wants Kylian Mbappé, there’s no secret. Over the summer, Los Blancos made some offers to land the 22-year-old but failed.

Marca report that ‘Operation Mbappe’ is already underway as Los Blancos look to secure the services of the Frenchman.

Mbappe’s current contract at Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he can enter negotiations with foreign clubs from the beginning of January.

Real Madrid trust that the 22-year-old will “stick to his original plan”, despite some small concerns that PSG could convince him to sign a contract extension.

The Parisians will table a final contract offer worth €25 million-per-year to Mbappe.

Now with the January window weeks away from opening, the Spanish club is ready to pounce.

According to Marca, “Operation Mbappé” is about to be launched by Real Madrid. In January, they can begin discussions with the Paris Saint-Germain forward and agree to a pre-contract that begins next season.

The report further details that Real Madrid wouldn’t rule out offering PSG a transfer fee this winter and not wait for Mbappé until the summer.

The proposal for a player with six months left on his contract would be a move in good faith by the Spanish side.

Furthermore, Marca states that the emergence of Vinícius Jr. doesn’t prevent their pursuit of Mbappé; it furthers it as they want to have the two young forwards as the centrepieces of the rebuild for Real Madrid.

These next couple of weeks will be wild, and it will be interesting to see what Mbappé decides to do with his future.
